Some occasions deserve a setting to match. On the Ganga, a birthday, an anniversary or a family milestone can be marked with the ghats as a backdrop, at sunrise as the city wakes or at dusk as the aarti lamps are lit.
The programme is agreed with you in advance and written into your quotation. It might include a boat decorated with marigolds, a cake or a box of Banarasi sweets, a diya ceremony on the water, a short blessing on the ghat, or live music where a performer is confirmed. Every element, its timing and its cost basis is set out clearly, so nothing is assumed.
Celebration arrangements elsewhere in your journey, such as a dinner or a surprise at your hotel, can overlap with this, and we reconcile the two so nothing is duplicated. River programmes depend on the water level and local orders, and an alternative on the ghat can be planned for the monsoon months where one can be arranged.

GOOD TO KNOW
Before you go.
- Walking: steep ghat steps lead to the boat. Tell us about older guests or small children so we can choose the easiest boarding.
- Timing: usually one and a half to two hours at sunrise or dusk, depending on the programme.
- Dress: as festive as you like, with layers for cool evenings and shoes that grip on the steps.
- Access: decoration, food and music are confirmed with each supplier. Boating depends on river levels and any local orders in force.
